Hario Technica Coffee Syphon (3 Cup):
Brewing coffee with Hario Technica coffee syphon is an exhilarating experience and probably the geekiest way. It follows the age-old process of syphon brewing, or vacuum extraction, that has rapidly gained popularity. It produces a remarkable quality coffee and allows you to be in total control of the whole brewing process. And it is fascinating to see how all the water flows upwards from the bottom to the top of the syphon, once the heater is turned on. The upper and lower bowls are made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass which are very easy to clean. The alcohol heater comes included with the brewer. And it has a capacity to brew up to 3 cups of coffee at once.
How to use this coffee brewer:
- Attach the filter to the upper glass stem.
- Add coffee grounds into the upper bowl. The standard amount for one cup is 10g.
- Pour almost boiling water into the lower bowl, up to the desired level on the measuring scale (120mL water per cup) and then, light the alcohol burner.
- Position the upper bowl by pressing lightly, without forcing: the air expanded by the heat causes the water to rise in the upper bowl.
- When water from the lower bowl rises to the upper bowl, use the attached spoon to gently stir contents in upper bowl. Heat for 40 to 60 seconds. Since the lower bowl will be almost empty, take extreme care not to overheat.
- Move the stand away from the burner and extinguish the flame by placing lid on the burner. Wait for coffee to drip naturally into the lower bowl. Do NOT move the burner without extinguished the flame.
- Remove the upper bowl by gently rocking it back and forth. Then place it on upper bowl stand.
- You now have a perfect pot of coffee to be served straight into the cup.
Care and Use:
- Dip the cloth filter in boiling water before using the first time.
- Use only fuel-type alcohol. Never use gasoline, benzene or kerosene. Purchase fuel-type alcohol from a pharmacy, etc.
- Do not use a metal spoon inside the glass bowl. It may cause breakage.
- Clean the brewer thoroughly and regularly and wash before every use.
- Use a soft sponge and mild dish detergent for cleaning. Do not use sponges with abrasives or metals scouring pads attached.
- The upper bowl with rubber gasket and the lower bowl without stand are dishwasher safe.
