La Nuova models the Altea Retro after the classic Altea design, which has since become a staple of La Nuova Espresso machines. Equipped with the original E61 group head design, a 3.5 litre boiler, and steam wands, the Altea ensures an efficient and effective brewing process, and provides the capabilities to manage and maintain varying levels of output. The E61 group head circulates hot water through the group-head from the heat exchanger and then back in order to keep the portafilter and group-head hot. The special steam wand allows movement for smaller, but also larger cups.
Having all the important barista features and boasting a solid, Altea Retro also has a modern and luxurious design. The frame of the La Nuova Altea Retro Mini, made of high quality stainless steel, adds to the machine’s durability and style. The Xp700 pressure state allows you to monitor the steam pressure in the boiler with accurate measurements.
Instruction for use:
- Insert portafilter and place cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
- Push the paddle to the left BREW position to brew. You should achieve 28-34 grams of espresso in 25-30 seconds.
- Push paddle back to the STOP position to stop the shot.
- Remove the portafilter and discard the puck.
To steam milk:
- Purge the steam wand.
- Turn on the steam and start aerating the milk.
- Purge the steam wand and clean with a damp cloth.
CARE, CLEANING & STORAGE
- Remove portafilter and lift out the filter basket (may require use of screwdriver) Drop filter basket into medium bowl with cleaning solution.
- Place a “blind” basket with no holes into the portafilter. Add a little hot water and 3 grams of cleaning solution in the blind basket. Mix until dissolved.
- Place all parts (filter baskets and portafilter head) in a bowl of hot water with cleaning solution.
- After soaking for 20-30 minutes, clean under running water, then dry and replace all the parts.
- Run an espresso through the machine to clean out any remaining cleaning solution.
